The New York Islanders announced on Wednesday that blueliner Andrey Pedan has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level deal. Pedan will join the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout.
Pedan, 19, led all Guelph Storm defenseman in scoring with a career-tying 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 60 games this season. The Kaunas, Lithuania-native led the Storm in playoff scoring with four points (three goals, one assist) in five Ontario Hockey League playoff games.
New York selected Pedan third-round (63rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, as the blueliner completed a three-year OHL career with 96 points (26 goals, 70 assists) and 386 penalty minutes in 174 regular-season games. He added 15 points (four goals, 11 assists) in 17 career OHL playoff games.
