Here are some notes for those fans getting ready to watch the New York Rangers (13-9-2) take on the Buffalo Sabres (9-14-3) in NHL action.

The Blueshirts will continue their four-game road trip with this very vital match-up against the Sabres. Currently the Rangers rank third in the Atlantic Division standings, while sitting eighth in the Eastern Conference. New York is on a bit of a hot-stretch as they have been able to record a point in four of their last five road games, while winning five of their last six.

New York holds a 61-72-25-5 overall record against the Sabres, with tonight being the second of three meetings between these two teams this season.So far the Rangers hold a 1-0 edge, after recording a 3-2 shootout victory at Madison Square Garden on March 3. Rick Nash and Ryan Callahan both were able to convert on goals in the shootout frame, while Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves through regulation/overtime.

Mr. Clutch:

Rick Nash has been coming through for the Rangers in the clutch, coming up with some huge goals in the later parts of the game. Nash, who currently leads the team with nine goals, tallied his first eight goals of the season in the third period. He is the second player in NHL history whose first eight goals of a season were tallied in the third period.

On Fire:

* Henrik Lundqvist had held opponents to two goals or less in 12 of his last 17 games (10-6-1, 1.99 GAA, .929 Sv%) over the span.

* Rick Nash enters the contest with a Rangers’ season-high six-game point streak (six goals, five assists during the streak) and has tallied a point in each of his last 10 games (seven goals, nine assists).

* Derek Stephan has seven points (three goals, four assists) in the last six games.

* Brad Richards has four points (two goals and two assists) in his last five games, including a goal in each of the last two games.
