Islanders acquire Tim Thomas
The New York Islanders announced on Thursday that they have acquired goaltender Tim Thomas from the Boston Bruins in exchange for a conditional second round pick in the 2014 or 15 NHL draft.
Thomas is a four-time NHL All-Star and a two-time winner of the Vezina Trophy; which is awarded to the league’s top keeper. Thomas led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Championship in 2001, earning the Conn Smyth Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the Playoffs.
“We have acquired an asset for our organization,” Islanders General Manager Garth Snow said. “This acquisition allows us flexibility with our roster moving forward.”
