Here are some notes for those fans watching the Brooklyn Nets (25-16) as they hit the road to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (17-21) in NBA action on Wednesday.
If the Nets win it would be the first victory in Minnesota since 11/23/02, while also snapping a two-game losing streak to the Timberwolves. It would also move P.J. Carlesimo to a 12-2 record as Interim Head Coach, which is the second best start for a coach in franchise history.
Brooklyn has improved since Carlesimo has taken over the reins of the team including the categories of points-per-game, field goal percentage and rebounding margin.
The Nets defense has continued to lockdown opposing teams, as Brooklyn has been able to hold 26 of their first 41 opponents under 100 points in regulation, while holding a 21-5 record in those games.
Helping to lead Brooklyn in their 88-85 victory over the Knicks was Brook Lopez who had 14 points, 11 boards and four blocks. Deron Williams recorded 14 points and a game-high 12 assists and five rebounds.
The Nets are on a seven game winning streak to begin the New Year, which is tied for the sixth-longest stretch in franchise history.
The Nets and Timberwolves are set to play on the YES Network with tip-off slated for 8:00 p.m.
