Nets vs. Pacers notes 1/13/13

Here are some notes for those fans watching the Brooklyn Nets (21-15) who are hosting the Indiana Pacers (22-14) in NBA action at the Barclays Center.

If the Nets win it would set the mark for the longest winning streak of the season (six games), while also push the home winning streak to four games. It would also mark the second consecutive victory over the Pacers.

Helping to lead Brooklyn to their victory over the Suns was guard Joe Johnson who scored a game-high 19 points with four-boards. Deron Williams followed with 15 points, while also tallying a game-high six assists.

Williams is averaging 19.0 points and 8.2 assists per game over the last five games. Williams is shooting 49.2% (29-59) from the field. The guard is questionable for the game against the pacers, as Williams has a right thigh contusion.

Reggie Evans continues to be a rebounding machine for the Nets, as Evans grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds against Phoenix. The forward now has three 15+ rebounding performances this season and ranks first in the NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes.

Carlesimo has been the Key:

The Nets have been enjoying playing under Interim Head Coach P.J. Carlesimo, as the team has a 7.1 record while also improving in several statistical categories since the coach has taken over. Carlesimo is off to the second-best start as coach through eight games in franchise history (21 different coaches, 22 separate coaching stints).

Brooklyn-Indiana connection:

Pacers forward Gerald Green spent the 2011-12 season playing for the New Jersey Nets; having averaged 12.9 points, 3.5 boards and 1.1 assists in 25.2 minutes-per game.
