Reports have come in from ESPN, the Daily News and other sports outlets that point-guard Jason Kidd will be leaving the Dallas Mavericks to sign with the New York Knicks. The 39-year-old who is reported as singing a three-year deal worth $9 million dollars will be an invaluable member to the Knicks, who needed that veteran presense in the point position.

Kidd, who can either come off the bench or start will bring his championship experience to New York, and will be rejoined with former teammate Tyson Chandler. Things will not be official until July 11, which is the first day that NBA contracts can be signed.

There has also been rumors that New York will resign fan favorite Jeremy Lin to the squad, thus far Lin has met with other teams so there is no official word on which team the popular point-guard will chose first.

Kidd, who was a member of the New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets). helped to lead the team to two Eastern Conference Finals in 2002 and 2003. The guard finally won his first NBA Championship with the Mavericks in 2011.

A native of San Francisco, Kidd can score a triple-double on any night, ranking third place all-time in the NBA in that statistic with a career total of 107.
