Lundqvist wins Vezina Trophy

It was announced on Wednesday night that New York Rangers goalkeeper Henrik Lundqvist won his first Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie.

Lundqvist helped to lead the Rangers to their best regular-season record in the Eastern Conference, went 39-18-5 with five shutouts, as the ‘King’ had career-bests in save percentage (.930), goals-against average (1.97) and wins (39).

The Swedish keeper beat out Nashville’s Pekka Rinne and Los AngelesJonathan Quick. Henrik become only the second goaltender from Sweden to be voted the best netminder, after Pelle Lindbergh won for Philadelphia in 1985. In addition Hank was the first Rangers’ to win the honor since John Vanbiesbrouck in 1986.
