It has been a very tough and physical series between the New York Rangers and the Ottawa Senators, in Round One of the NHL Playoffs. The Blueshirts are in need of a Game Six victory in Ottawa in order to continue their quest for the Stanley Cup.
New York enters the game with a 200-219-8 record all-time in 427 playoff contests (111-85-2 at home; 89-134-6 on the road), while posting a 14-17 record all-time in Game Six of playoff series.
Players to watch for:
New York Rangers- Ryan McDonagh: The blueliner has well with Dan Girardi all series long against the Senators. McDonagh has shown to have a scoring touch and this will be something needed for New York.
Ottawa Senators-Craig Anderson: The cager has only given up three goals in the last three games, including a 41-save performance in Game Five. The lone thing keeping New York from advancing has been the play of Anderson.
Welcome Back: Rookie Carl Hagelin is set to return to the Rangers lineup after serving a three-game suspension on an elbow to Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson. Hagelin who is known for his speed and tenacity on the forecheck is expected to reunite with Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards.
Chris Kreider: Kreider who was signed with the Blueshirts after his season with Boston College ended is expected to play in his fourth straight game with the team in Game Six. The rookie maybe filling in for Brian Boyle who was shaken up in the third period of Saturday night’s game.
Game Six is set to air on the MSG Network with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
