The Rangers will look to rebound after finishing the regular season in tough fashion, falling to the Washington Capitals by a final of 4-1. New York announced their 2011-12 team award winnings, including the team’s MVP, the Players’ Player Award and the John Halligan Good Guy Award.

Winning the MVP for the sixth consecutive season was cager Henrik Lundqvist, who has posted a 39-17-5 record this season with a 1.93 goals-against average. For Lundqvist the six times that the cager has won the MVP award marks a franchise record, while also tying him with Blueshirts-great Brian Leetch for the most in the team’s history.

Captain Ryan Callahan was named to the Players’ Player award, which recognizes the Blueshirt who best exemplifies what it means to be a teammate. Callahan has recorded 29 goals and 25 assists for 54 points, ranking third among NHL forwards in blocked shots (88), sixth overall in hits (269) and is tied for fifth in power play goals (13).

Blueshirts center Brian Boyle was awarded the John Halligan Good Guy Award, Halligan was a longtime Rangers and NHL Public Relations executive, who passed away in 2012, and recognizes players’ cooperation with the media.
