The New York Islanders (32-33-11) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (47-23-6) are set to meet for the final time this season, as the Isles look to complete a sweep of a home-and-home series against Pittsburgh. In the March 27 meeting, center Frans Nielsen scored twice to lead the team to their first victory in Steel City in four years.
Nielsen has had a hot stick as of late, recording eight points in the last five games. The Danish-born star is thus far has a career-high of 17 goals, while also improving to 23-for-38 in the shootout session.
“We all know each other’s tendencies on the ice and we like to play the same way,” said Nielsen. “There has been some great chemistry there.”
On the secondary scoring:
“Yeah it is a good thing and it is what we need, unfortunately too many games Johnny’s line has had to carry the load offensively and that isn’t good enough,” said Nielsen. “We have to build on this and try to keep playing well, if we want to be a playoff team you can’t just count on one line.”
On playing with Nielsen and Okposo, Bailey had this to say:
“I think we mesh well together so far, it has only been a short amount of time, but we’ve been happy with the way things have gone,” Bailey said. “About two years ago we played together for a pretty good stretch and we played pretty well-putting up some good numbers.”
