Cally clutch on milestone night, as Blueshirts beat Sabres 3-2 in overtime

The New York Rangers (39-15-6) defeated the Buffalo Sabres (27-28-7) by a final of 3-2 in overtime NHL action on Saturday night. Helping to lead the Blueshirts to the victory, was captain Ryan Callahan, who scored his 100th career NHL point on the game-winning goal for New York

Callahan helped to lead the Rangers physical game with five hits in the game, while also recoding three steals in becoming the first-star in the game for New York.  Earning the third-star was Blueshirts-speedster Carl Hagelin who finished with a two point night (1 goal/ 1 assist), while also recoding two steals and two hits.Hagelin recorded the first Rangers goal on a wicked wrist shot at the 7:38 mark in the second period, which tied the game against the Sabres up at one at the time. Buffalo responded with a power play goal by Drew Stafford (12), which was the winger’s second goal in the game.

Blueshirts sniper Marian Gaborik (28) sent the two teams into overtime, on a pretty backhanded goal at the 5:32 mark in the third period, it was then in overtime that Captain Cally struck to stop a two-game losing streak the Rangers had going into the game.

The Rangers will next be in action on Monday, as they host Eastern Conference-rival the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden.  The Blueshirts/Devils game is set to air on the NBC-sports network with face-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
