Rangers flying high in 3-0 victory over Winnipeg

The New York Rangers (31-12-4) enter into the 2012 All-Star Break on a two-game winning streak flying high over the Winnipeg Jets (22-22-6) by a final of 3-0 in Tuesday night hockey. Leading the Blueshirts was Henrik Lundqvist, made 22 saves earning the 40thshutout of his career.

It was a surprise start for Henrik, who thought that he may have the day off; instead the Swedish cager was called to action as backup Martin Biron is battling the flu.  Lundqvist now holds a 22-10-4 record, making his fifth consecutive start for the Blueshirts.

Scoring for New York was Captain Ryan Callahan (17), John Mitchell (5) and Brad Richards (16), as the Blueshirts were able to find goals in each period of play. Dan Girardi led the physical play with six hits, also leading the team with three blocked shots.

Lundqvist, Girardi and winger Marian Gaborik will all represent the Blueshirts in the All-Star Game in Ottawa, with the rest of the team enjoying some well-earned time off.

The next time the Blueshirts will see action is on Tuesday, January 31 against Eastern Conference-rivals the New Jersey Devils. The Rangers/Devils game is set to air on the MSG 2 network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m
