The New York Islanders (16-21-6) will look to rebound from a 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators with a two game road trip to Washington, DC and Philadelphia on Monday and Thursday respectively. Scoring the lone goal in the Islanders loss to the Predators was John Tavares (16), as the center extended his point streak to nine games.
New York will look to snap a four-game winning streak by the Capitals. This will be the second of four meetings this season between the Isles and the Caps. New York won their first meeting with Washington on Nov. 5th by a final of 5-3 at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Tavares isn’t the only Islander with a hot-stick, as Matt Moulson, P.A. Parenteau and Kyle Okposo have helped to lead the Islanders offense. For Moulson the winger has seven points (three goals and four assists) in his last for games. Parenteau has five assists in his last five games, and Okposo has five goals in his last seven games.
Islanders’ milestones to watch for as three players are close to making history. Josh Bailey is only one point away from the 100 point plateau, while Frans Nielsen is four assists away from the mark as well. Marty Reasoner is four goals away from the 100 goal mark.
The game between the Isles and Capitals is set to air on the MSG Plus network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
