Blueshirts the center of attention with 3-0 victory against Toronto

The New York Rangers (28-10-4) won for the sixth time in seven games, with a 3-0 blanking over the Toronto Maple Leafs (22-17-5) in NHL action on Saturday.  New York three goals were thanks to centers Mike RuppBrian Boyle and Derek Stephan.

Rupp (4) started the scoring for the Blueshirts with a snap shot at the 3:35 mark in the second period. Boyle (3) tallied a wrister at 16:28 to give the Rangers’ a 2-0 lead to end the frame. Stephan (10) capped off the scoring with a wrister at the 6:01 in the third period.

Stephan also recorded an assist on the goal scored by Rupp, to finish the night with two points, and a plus-2 rating on the ice. The center also recorded five face-off victories along with four hits and steals. Brandon Prust led all Blueshirts with six hits in the game, while Anton Stralman led the team with his five blocked shots.

Blueshirts keeper Martin Biron stopped all 20 shots made by the Maple Leafs in the game. Thus far Biron thus far as an 8-2-0 record in the cage for New York, with a .922 save percentage and 2.06 goals against average.

New York will finish this two game trip to Canada, with a Sunday showdown against the Canadiens on Sunday. The game against the Blueshirts and Habs is set to air on the NBC Sports network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
