With his time with the Pirates, Cedeno, who is 28-years-old, had a .249 average with two homers. Ronny will be valuable insurance to the Amazin’s’ on the bench, as it is expected for Ruben Tejada to play every day at shortstop.
It has also been reported that New York is close to re-signing outfielder Scott Hariston. Neither deal is official yet, but when it does it will for sure fill many needs for the Mets.
Starting pitcher Johan Santana is three weeks into the regular throwing program, as the lefty is now throwing off flat ground on consecutive days from a distance of 75 feet. It has been 16 months since Santana has had surgery on his left shoulder.
