The New York Rangers earned a pre-season split with the New Jersey Deilvs, with a 4-3 victory on Friday night. Blueliner Brendan Bell snapped the tie with 3:04 left to win it for the Blueshirts. Bell was able to flip a shot past Devils keeper Martin Brodeur for the game-winner.
Making his successful Rangers debut was Brad Richards, who tallied two points (1G, 1A). Derek Stephan and Marian Gaborik also added goals for New York. Keeper Chad Johnson stopped all 10 shots he faced in the third period for the victory.
This is the Rangers second-to-last game in the States before the regular season begins. The Blueshirts are slated to play the Flyers on Monday, where the NHL is expected to announce the Winter Classic. The team will head to Europe for four exhibition games, and will eventually face the Kings and Ducks in the season-opening games in Sweden.
