Professional Sports Teams in your community spotlight: The New York Rangers

As the clock is ticking down to the 2011-12 National Hockey League season, the legendary New York Rangers always take time to reach out and give back to their community.

The Blueshirts have long had a great history of reaching out to their fans in the New York City area, and with the 10th anniversary of September 11th coming on Sunday, several players and coaches took time out on a rainy Tuesday to honor and remember the heroes of that day.

Piling onto a double-decker tour bus players, coaches and children directly affected by the events of September 11th  to three New York City Fire Department houses, and then to Tower 7 at the World Trade Center for a reception.

That is not the only event the Rangers will be holding, as the Blueshirts will celebrate the upcoming hockey season in style. On Thursday, Sept. 8, at the NHL Flagship Store at 47th and 6th Ave, several Rangers will be on hand to mingle with the fans.

Fans in attendance will have the chance for autographs, play trivia, and win prizes as well as other giveaway items throughout the event. This will be a part of the New York Rangers’ Fashion’s Night out, and will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
