The New York Rangers announced on their official website today, that their weekly Live Online Rangers Chat with BlueshirtsUnited.com-featuring rookie-sensation Ryan Bourque. The chat will take place this Thursday, September 1st beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Bourque already has a fine hockey lineage behind him, as he is the son Hockey Hall of Famer Ray Bourque and the brother of Washington Capitals’ prospect Chris. The forward was the third round draft choice by the Rangers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Thus far in his young career Bourque has won four medals in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) playing for the United States, as the youngster is the proud owner of a gold and bronze medal. A duel citizen of both the US and Canada, the forward chose to represent the Red, White and Blue-leading the team with 32 shots on goal tallying one goal and six assists in seven games for the 2009 gold medal winners.
According to Wikipedia they describe Bourque as a tenacious, versatile player, who is considered strong defensively. Considering his father was one of the best blue liners in the history of the NHL-it should be interesting to see how Ryan will fare in the NHL.
Ryan is considered one of the top prospects in the team, and is slated to play in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament-which starts on Saturday September the 10th. The Traverse City Tournament has been able to produce dozen’s of alumni now in the NHL….including such stars as Ilya Kovalchuk and Danny Heatley, as well as Jeff Skinner….who was the recipient of the Calder Trophy last season.
