Granderson, Rodriguez propel Yankees to 7-6 victory over Jays

Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez led the New York Yankees (91-59) to a 7-6 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays (76-75) in baseball action on Saturday.

Future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera tied the MLB record in saves with 601, as the quiet closer slammed the door on another Yankee victory.  ‘Mo’ is now in his 17th season in the league, to go along with an impressive 42 stops in postseason play.

Granderson smacked his 40th homer, the go-ahead hit in the seventh, while Rodriguez recorded his 16th homer-to help the Bombers snap a two-game losing skid. Starter Bartolo Colon tossed four innings giving up eight hits, and allowing six runs.

The Bombers will conclude this road stretch, with a matinee game on Sunday. New York will send out starter Freddy Garcia (11-7, 3.71 ERA) to take on Brandon Morrow (9-11, 5.23 ERA).
