It was a very intense and physical day between New York City FC (8-8-10) and the Red Bulls of New York (9-6-11) in different places in the standings and with the Red Bulls winning the Hudson River Derby series and Trophy by the score of 1-0.
New York City FC had themselves some wonderful chances for sure, but it was a goal by Julian Hall that won the match.

Hall during his time coming through the world of soccer playing for both NYCFC and now with the Red Bulls, was the difference maker for the visiting side and had all that were in support of the Boys in Blue feeling frustrated with the final result.

Especially NYCFC really wanted to continue the momentum they had in the MLS standings and to try to gain a better position in the MLS playoff standings.
Now the team is in 10th place with some work to do.
For those that are Red Bulls fans the day could not have gone any better as the team is in Eighth Place and having done a ton of positive things during the course of the match.
New York City FC has to now wipe away any of what had happened as they are now going on the road to face Atlanta on 9/26 and still have themselves a chance at a better spot in the standings.
As for the Red Bulls they get to return to Sports Illustrated Stadium and host St. Louis for the fourth meeting between the two clubs.
