The stars came through for both Gotham and Portland as Jaedyn Shaw and Sophia Wilson were able to show off in front of a great crowd at Sports Illustrated Stadium in a 1-1 draw.
Shaw and Wilson, a huge part of the USWNT roster were a huge part in seeing Gotham and Portland remain the Number One and Three Seeds in the NWSL standings.
Gotham got some great news though in being able to extend the unbeaten streak that they have been able to build during the month of August as the streak is now at 10 games.
The first-place team hasn’t lost since July 4, building a seven-point lead atop the NWSL standings.

In addition to seeing the unbeaten streak extended the franchise had a milestone moment in having Midge Purce play in her 150th regular season game played.
Some other cool facts and figures from the Gotham FC Public Relations Department include:
- Midfielder Jaedyn Shaw scored her team-leading sixth goal of the 2026 NWSL regular season, opening the scoring with a long-range strike.
- Shaw has recorded two goals and three assists in her last four home matches.
- She tied Esther González for the club lead this season in goals.
- Winger Midge Purce recorded her first assist of the 2026 NWSL regular season, setting up Shaw for Gotham FC’s opening goal.
- Purce also made her 150th career NWSL regular season appearance, becoming the 54th player in league history to reach the milestone.
- This was her 87th Gotham FC appearance, passing Christie Pearce for fifth in club history.
The franchise is playing well at Sports Illustrated Stadium as the ladies (13-3-6, 45 points) now owns the most points from home matches in the league, with 25.
It’ll be on the road for the next three before the team returns back to Harrison to host the Chicago Stars on September 25.
Before that happens is a trip to Denver to take on the Summit, now led by captain Lindsay Heaps. Acquired on January and is leading the team through some memorable moments thus far including seeing the team play to a 2-1 victory in where she helped with the game-winning assist.
This is the first time that Gotham is going to see Heaps, but are no strangers to Denver as these two teams clashed earlier in the season.
It’ll be fascinating to see how the team does on the road and where things are going to stand when they return to New Jersey on September 25.
