The Red Bulls were able to gain many good opportunities against Charlotte and Philadelphia, and are now looking to rebound with Orlando coming to Sports Illustrated Stadium on August 1.
Getting the first MLS start for the franchise is Julian Bazan, while Forward Mijahir Jiménez made his debut when he stepped onto the pitch in the 70th minute.
“For Bazan, generally, in his first start and his first real minutes as a center back, we thought he had a good game. We’re going to continue to push him along,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “He’s made a good impression since he arrived here in terms of his qualities as a player and as a competitor. He has really good starting points, so we’re pleased with him. And as you said, (Mijahir) Jimenez came on and at that point in the game, helped us in some really good ways. So we were pleased with both of those guys.”
In the match versus Charlotte the team had themselves a ton of chances, a total of 23, but frustration throughout the match.
The frustration also is going to come thanks to the accumulation of yellow cards for Adri Mehmeti, Jorge Ruvalcaba and Omar Valencia as they are all going to not be a part of the match against Orlando due to suspension.
When it came time for the red card that Adri got Coach Bradley had this to say, “He and I spoke inside. At that point, it was just about making sure he went inside and didn’t do anything that was going to get him into more trouble. He and I spoke, and that part was important after a situation on a night like this. Adri (Mehmeti) is a really, really talented young player. He has so many good qualities. He’s been so important for us this year, and it’s all part of growing and maturing. He’ll learn from it in good ways. He’s going in a really good direction.”
In the match against the Philadelphia Union, fans were able to see a goal from Cade Cowell, but after that it was all scoring by Philly to gain the three points.
The guys are going to be working hard and getting ready to host Orlando on August 1, the time for that match is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
