Washington Spirit look to continue winning ways on the road in Seattle

Ever since the road match against Bay FC the Washington Spirit have been able to find ways to win matches and become one of the teams to watch for in the NWSL.

The Spirit now in Fifth Place in the NWSL standings go on the road to face an ultra tough Seattle Reign squad in a Mother’s Day matchup.

These two NWSL squads have a long history against each other as they have faced each other 25 times, with Seattle leading the series with a 14-12-8 record.

In the team’s last meeting in September the Spirit was able to play the way to a 2-0 victory, as a Brace by Trinity Rodman led the way.

Because of the way that the team is playing lately Head Coach Adrián González was named to the NWSL Coach of the Month for April, and it was the first time that Coach was able to receive the honors.

Coach González and Andi Sullivan were a part of a media information session on Zoom and reflected on a wide range of topics and previewed the team’s upcoming match versus Seattle.

Sullivan is making her way back to the roster as she just had a 17-month hiatus due to a 2024 ACL tear and becoming a Mom.

Andi is one of the leaders of the squad and is going to be a huge part of the success of the squad for the team going forward.

Thus far the mix of the players that the Spirit have with the new faces and the vets are getting them to play a great brand of Soccer and goalkeeper Sandy MacIver is finding her stride as the team’s goalkeeper.

The match between the Spirit and Reign is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with the action airing on the Victory streaming platform.
