After all the practice and the exhibition games, it was time for the Red Storm Men’s Basketball team to face the first test of the 2025 Season.
It is going to be hard to measure things so early on, especially with only two games unofficial and now Quinnipiac.
There is one thing that is for sure though the energy and the ceiling in terms of potential is high for this year’s edition of the squad.
After seeing the team honored for the incredible run they had in winning the BIG EAST Conference Tournament and winning all the post season awards last year, there is going to be a ton of new faces and things to see when it comes time for the basketball season.

One of the things that got people excited was the connection between Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins.
Hopkins was the man that helped the Providence team to many memorable moments and even had a ton of highlights against the Red Storm, so to see the transfer making an immediate splash and finding Zuby with some wonderful passes is something that has fans hyped up.
There was a bit of everything in the first game against Quinnipiac, including thunderous dunks, playing time for some of the incoming class of Freshman and an atmosphere at Carnesecca Arena that is going to be prominent throughout the 2025 Season.
To see the thoughts from Head Coach Rick Pitino along with Dillon Mitchell and Sadiku Ibine Ayo fans are encouraged to watch the video below:
So far with the three game that are under the belt of the Red Storm all signs are looking positive, including the Michigan game, one in where Coach Pitino seemed very pleased
The guys though won’t be able to rest though as it seemed as if there is going to be a very quick reset in having to take on NO. 15/16 Alabama at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
That game is going to be one that Coach Pitino called a track meet, as the HOFer faced the Crimson Tide twice while with Iona.
St. John’s not only has an afternoon slot scheduled for the day, but they are going to have an added treat for the fans in attendance as they were able to coordinate an appearance by WWE Superstar Stephanie Vaquer on that day.
When it comes time for the history between the Red Storm and the Crimson Tied they have in fact met before with the two College Hoops teams tied at 2. The most recent meeting between the two came in 1973 when the Red Storm had a 72-67 victory at the Hartford Civic Center.
