New York City FC Hoping for Reset In 2025 MLS Playoffs

Even though the 2025 MLS Regular Season and the Decision Day didn’t go the way most supporters of New York City FC had hoped there is a ton of optimism and energy surrounding the club as there is a hope for a reset as the guys approach the 2025 MLS Playoff.

The match against Seattle to end the Regular Season was an incredible one for the guys, as on a perfect day at Citi Field the love and support for the squad was felt by all.

Fans are encouraged to view the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Pascal Jansen from after the team’s Decision Day Match…video is compliments of New York City FC:

Prior to the start of the action, the talk of the new soccer specific stadium in Etihad Park took place as team COO Jennifer O’Sullivan along with Councilmember Moya proclaimed the incredible work that the Borough of Queens was able to do so now NYCFC can have a permanent home in Queens.

Right after that the focus went to the guys on the pitch and what they would do to beat the defending Leagues Cup Champions.

It was a competitive match between the two squads as the battle for possession was probably the most important trend for that night.

Things were an even 50-50 between the two squads, and New York City FC if things were to be looked at optimistic wise after the 2-1 loss did lead in several categories stats wise including shots by a tally of 14-8, and edged Seattle with the shots on goal category by a final of 5-4.

It was the two goals by Seattle Jordan Morris and Jackson Ragen that led the way to the three points as the West Coast Club is in Fifth Place in the MLS Standings.

As for New York City FC in what was a physical battle they were able to see a goal by Nicolás Fernández Mercau assisted by Julián Fernández and Máximo Carrizo.

After the result the guys took the time to thank the fans and be a part of the shirt of the back ceremony and are immediately resetting themselves as a Best-of-3 series against Charlotte is now on the table, along with a trip to the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs.

New York City FC in Fifth Place in the Eastern Conference is going to Bank Of America Stadium for Game 1 to be played on October 28 at 6:45 p.m. Before returning to the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium on Saturday, November 1 at 3:30 p.m.

The Boys in Blue fared well against Charlotte at Yankee Stadium, as the two franchises met previously on September 20 and that was a memorable match, as Alonso Martínez had two penalty opportunities and converted on them both.

As for playing on the road in Bank of America Stadium, that is the lone test that the Boys in Blue are going to solve.

For now it is time for them to practice and prepare for that next moment and hopefully regaining some of the momentum they had prior to the end of the regular season.
