Philly Bound Gotham FC getting ready for Clash against Spirit

After a feel good day at Sports Illustrated Stadium, along with a 3-0 victory against an ultra tough Portland team, the ladies are now Philadelphia Bound to take on the Washington Spirit.

In a very rare feat by the NWSL the ladies are going to play at Subaru Park for one of the most important matches of the year.

It’ll be the Bats of Gotham in third place facing the Washington Spirit, not only in Second Place in the NWSL but having just gotten themselves a place in the NWSL playoffs.

This battle against the NWSL Eastern Conference foes is going to be very different for both franchises especially for Gotham FC since they added Jaedyn Shaw to the roster.

Shaw making an immediate impact in her debut match against San Diego, and was a huge part of the ladies gaining three points against Portland.

It was Shaw that was a huge part of setting up the goal by Rose Lavelle at the 43′.

We encourage our fans to view the following videos as our correspondent Maria-Isabelle Parada got to interview fans at the match about the addition of Shaw to the franchise:

Fans in attendance got to have some really cool first as Lavelle along with Midge Purce and Katie Stengel all scored during the course of the day.

For Purce the goal moved her into third place on the all-time regular season scoring list.

With those in attendance also celebrating the Latino culture that surround the squad.

After that it was a celebration of Purce and Lavelle as they are gaining positive moments on the pitch at just the right time as the ladies count down the days till the epic battle against the Spirit.

Some interesting notes from the Gotham FC Public Relations department include the fact that Ann-Katrin Berger was a part of a club record with nine shutouts with the team.

Fans are encouraged to view the following video as Stengel, Berger, and Rose Lavelle share these thoughts after the team’s victory….filmed by Maria-Isabelle Parada:

Berger is now the 13th goalkeeper in NWSL history to reach 25 wins for one club.

Now the countdown is on as the ladies face the Washington Spirit as they just clinched a playoff spot, as the ladies beat the Houston Dash 4-0 at Audi Field.

In the previous meeting between the two rivals it was a 0-0 Draw, and with vital points and new additions to the squad it’ll be fascinating to see how this time around is going to be different.
