The guys of D.C. United (4-10-7) on the day after Independence Day battled Atlanta United (4-10-6) to a scoreless Draw on a beautiful day in Washington D.C.
Thus far the guys are in 12th place in the MLS standings, while Atlanta is in 13th and the two teams showed why they are going to be hopefully ones to watch as the season progresses.
Christian Benteke seeing more and more time after recovering from an ankle injury, looked great in the match against Atlanta. Benteke showed his incredible vertical leaping ability in the First Half of play, it was so impressive on the night that the franchise celebrated Marvel Night; it was similar to the incredible leaping ability by any of the heroes from the book.

That play amongst many others was one of the moments where D.C. United could have broken through and scored, but it was the play of Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan keeping the scoreless draw.
Benteke is one of the leaders for D.C. United thus far with his 14 points in being the top scorer with the squad.
Another impressive performance came from David Schnegg as he was in the spots to help his teammates to goals, thus far he is a part of some of the bigger moments thus far with his four assists.
Some of the impressive moments in terms of results for D.C. United came when the guys defeated the Red Bulls in April, then the 2-1 victory against Colorado in May, there was also a huge 2-1 victory against Cincinnati prior to the start of the month of June.
In the cage for D.C. United was Luis Barraza and he was able to be a part of his third MLS Clean Sheet of the season.
The franchise got to see the play of homegrown midfielder Jackson Hopkins and the fact that he was able to make his 50th MLS appearance. There were positive stats for Hopkins as he had a 100% dribble success.
D.C. United are going to be on the road for a bit before returning to Audi Field on 7/26 to take on Austin.
