Going up against an ultra tough San Diego squad is never an easy task, especially for the ladies for Gotham FC having to recover from a Draw and a loss in the prior two matches.
The struggles for the ladies continue as they played to a 1-0 loss on Saturday night.
With the team helping to celebrate Broadway night, days after Forward Midge Purce making her Chicago Debut, the stars of theater appeared in Harrison to put on a show for a tremendous crowd in attendance.

Those that stuck around got treated to a fireworks display with a Broadway showtune theme to it to conclude the night.
Gotham FC fans are encouraged to watch the following video as Head Coach Juan Carlos Amorós along with Jaelin Howell and Sarah Schupansky share these thoughts after the team’s 1-0 loss to the San Diego Wave in NWSL Action at Sports Illustrated Stadium on 5/16/25…video is compliments of Gotham FC:
There were a ton of brilliant moments for Gotham FC as they were able to make some runs, but for the most part it was the Wave defense being able to clamp down on the offensive opportunities.
It had seemed as if any time one of the ladies go the ball on the offensive side that the San Diego Defense completely shut them down and was one of the finer performances by an opposing team thus far.
Scoring the goal for the Wave was Kimmi Ascanio, as the teenager is making a great showcase for herself with the Cali based NWSL squad.
Gotham FC had themselves a moment for concern when goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger had a scary moment in the First Half of play. Thankfully she was able to continue and even made a highlight reel save in the Second Half.
The good news for the ladies is the fact that they can can get back to work quickly and erase most of the struggles they are going through by playing Club America on Wendesday, May 21 in the CONCACAF Tournament.
