With it being new fan night and most importantly with the chase for the playoffs underway, with every match that Gotham FC plays the ladies are getting hungry for three points.
As they are now also in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup there is more upon the shoulders of the team and this is usually when the ladies perform at the finest.
All throughout a beautiful Sunday evening, and with both the returning and new fans in attendance at Sports Illustrated Stadium it was a great atmosphere for the ladies.
The action got started early as Angel City was able to get on the scoreboard from a goal by Kennedy Fuller in around the 2′.

After that it was a matter of the teams getting into a rhythm of the match and being able to find the formation that was required to lock things down on defense.
Also be sure to view the following video as Midge Purce and Rose Lavelle share these thoughts after the team’s victory….video is compliments of Gotham FC:
It was in the Second Half that the call to bench breathed a new life into the squad as Purce and Lavelle came into the match and made an immediate impact.
Purce was the first to make her mark on the night in setting up the goal by Gabi Portilho in the 47′ to get the highlight reel plays for Gotham started.
Moments later it was a goal by Lavelle doubling up the match. There was a ton of emotions shown for Rose after scoring as that was the first of the 2025 season.
It brough people flashbacks to when Lavelle and company all sat in front of the media at the beginning of the year and many had wondered how things would be for the midfielder. Thus far she is having a great year in bringing many great moments for the squad and the best parts of the season are about to happen for Rose and the squad.
To ensure the three points Gotham was able to get a goal from Jaelin Howell in the 68′ from Geyse and that combined with huge play by goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger got the ladies to Sixth Place in the NWSL Standings.
Howell leaped with sheer joy, as she now has three goals in the last seven matches and gaining that momentum is going to be clutch.
Some cool facts from the Gotham PR department include the fact that they were able to win for the first time this season when trailing at the half. This was also the first time that the ladies were able to score three goals in a match for the first time since June 14 and that was in the match against Utah.
With the ladies now in Sixth Place the schedule is about to get fascinating as on Friday, September 12 they go on the road to face Third Place San Diego, before returning to CONCACAF action on the 16th.
The ladies are going to be on the road till September 26th when they take on the Portland Thorns for a match that is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
