In a match where the NYCFC Defense was a huge part of the match, the Boys in Blue were able to pick up a preseason victory in the finale of the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational.
It was a tight match filled with a bit of intensity, but under the guidance of Head Coach Pascal Jansen the overall play indicated the guys were ready for the start of the regular season play.
Being a part of the Coachella Valley Invitational for the third year, things seem like a great pairing between the franchise and them being able to play in California. During the course of the Invitational the guys got not only great support in terms of fans but also views as well.
Head Coach Pascal Jansen shares these thoughts after the team’s victory…video is compliments of New York City FC:
Overall the guys played well gaining two victories, a draw and a loss, with an overall 2-2-5 record while playing at the CVI.
One of the leaders throughout the Invitational was Alonso Martínez as in the 77th minute he was able to score the lone goal in the game.
Some of the other notable moments was the fact that the team leader thus far and wearing the Captains Armband is Keton Parks, as he had the honors of sporting the armband twice during the CVI.
The Boys in Blue also continue the development of the young guns as homegrown midfielder Johnny Shore made his second start, and also the team seeing the debut of midfielder Andrés Perea.
It is time for the real fun and competition to begin as the countdown is on till the start of the 2025 MLS Season. The guys are going to start the season in a fascinating way, as they are going to go on the road against Inter Miami CF on Saturday, March 22 at 2:30PM ET.
