Naibiter in the Bronx as Fordham Wins the Battle of the Rams

Things were close between Fordham University (11-12, 3-7 Atlantic 10 Conference) and the University of Rhode Island as they battled in Atlantic 10 Conference Action in the Bronx.

As Fordham and URI battled throughout the night, it was clear that things were going to go down to the final few seconds to declare the winner of the battle between these two teams.

It was in the Second Half that the University of Rhode Island seemed as if they were going to pull away with the W, as they had the momentum via a dunk by David Fuchs.

Jackie Johnson decided to get himself into the clutch shooting zone by connecting on a three-pointer and get the Rams back into the driver’s seat.

From there it was the combination of the rowdy crowd in the Bronx, along with a clutch layup by Matt Zona to get the Rams of Fordham the victory.

Zona is one of the biggest stories coming from Fordham in the 2024-25 Season. Matt is doing a bit of everything for the team including the big-time rebounds, shots and some impressive numbers including 133 points and 73 rebounds thus far.

Fordham is also impressive in the fact that they have guys that are ranked in the Conference when it comes time for scoring including Jackie Johnson III as he is third in scoring with 429 points.

Point Guard Japhet Medor is also among the names seen in the rankings as he is 23 with his 297 points.

In a cool moment afterward, Medor was being interviewed by the television crew in attendance and got to interact with the kids that were in attendance at the game, which was probably a memory that is going to last a lifetime for those kids.

The victory is one that is going to be a memorable one for Fordham University, especially as they continue the tough stretch of Conference play. The good news for the team is the fact that they are getting to play in front of the Rose Hill Fanbase.

During the course of the 2024-25 Season the Rams have a 8-4 record in front of the fans in the Bronx.
Up next the guys are going to host Dayton on Wednesday, February 12 with the start of the action scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
