With the ladies of the Washington Spirit in Bradenton, Florida preparing for the 2025 season Head Coach Jonatan Giráldez and team captain Aubrey Kingsbury chatted with members of the media via Zoom.
First up Coach Giráldez interacted with those on the Zoom and reflected on some of the growth and the development with the team and what he is hoping to see from the team in the 2025 Season.
Jonatan Giráldez reflected on being able to spend time with his family and the balance he strikes with being a father as well as a Coach for the squad and some of the new systems and formations that he hopes to see the ladies play under.
There were a ton of new additions to the Spirit roster including Scottish Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver and Forward Tamara Bolt.
It’ll be fascinating to be able to see how these additions as well as the 2025 Class are going to meld together with the team that is in place and how the 2024 class, now to be the appointed leaders along with the Vets in Teaching the Spirit Style of Soccer.
Then the session turned to team Captain Aubrey Kingsbury, as she chatted about the off season moves, how different it is going to be going from a class that had so many rookies to having a class that isn’t as many.
Kingsbury spoke with eloquence on the type of impact the trades and moves that the NWSL as a whole is going to impact the league and the difficulty in having to make decisions that were going to be best for the individuals that are on each team.
It was also fascinating to be able to hear Aubrey speak on her training and regimen as well, as there were Yoga sessions that were going to be helpful for the goalkeeper to have a successful season.
There is a ton of excitement and hype surrounding the Spirit as the 2025 Season rapidly approaches.
The ladies are going to continue to train at the IMG Academy in Florida till February 8 that is when they return to Washington D.C. to start training within the local Area.
