Highlights Galore For Top Rank Boxing in a Night of Epic Fights

It was a night full of highlights, redemption and overall epic fights as Top Rank Boxing thrilled fans in the Theatre at Madison Square Garden on Friday Night.

From the start to the Main Event every fight had fans on the edge of the seats with every battle won including the three championship bouts.

The action got started early when Rohan Polanco handed Marcelino Lopez the first knockdown of his 17-year career in the third round. Polanco kept to the offensive attack getting Lopez to take a knee twice and that was when the official called the contest by TKO in the Sixth Round.

Boxing fans are encouraged to give a view to our fight night photos:

Getting a chance to elevate his game at Madison Square Garden Tiger Johnson defeated Yomar Alamo by unanimous decision by the score of 78-74 twice and 77-75.

In a fight that featured plenty of highlights Elvis Rodriguez got the unanimous 10-round decision against Kendo Castaneda (100-90 twice and 99-91) in Welterweight action.

One of the most memorable moments was when New Jersey-native Vito Mielnicki Jr. debuted in front of a crowd filled with his t-shirts, hats to go along with friends and family all chanting his name Vito, on his way to a 10-round majority decision. The victory was a hard fought one as Khalil El Harraz made his name known with a great scrap.

It was once again Shu York City as Bruce Carrington remained perfect in terms of fight results, against a tough Sulaiman Segawa via a 10-round majority decision. That was one that was a tough fight to call as things were very close between the two fighters.

In terms of stats, it was Segawa that led the way as he threw more punches by a tally of 416-358.

For those that are newer to the sport of boxing the hope is for others to sit them down to watch the masterclass that was put on by Xander Zayas and Damian Sosa. Zayas threw everything he had at Sosa throughout the 10-rounds and earned the victory, but for sure Sosa is going to go down as someone to watch for in the world of boxing.

Then it was finally redemption for Mikaela Mayer as through the ups and downs of her journey as a boxer thus far, she won the WBO welterweight world title against Sandy Ryan.

The bout between Mayer and Ryan already has social media chatting things through as the potential as one of the top Women’s Boxing matches that has been held, and already there are talks of a rematch as there was a ton of heart and grit shown by both women.

After picking up the victory Mayer had this to say, “It was similar to how I thought it would go. I always said before that I respected Sandy as a boxer. She has a big pedigree, just like myself, but I knew I was gonna beat her to the punch. I knew I was faster. I knew I was sharper. And that’s exactly what I did.”

One can tell after the night was completed the look of disappointment on Ryan’s face. Thus far the English-born Boxing star has not had very much luck in the States, but the hope is for many that she can return for another fight as there were many on the side of Sandy as the night progressed.

Once again thanks to the folks at Top Rank Boxing Madison Square Garden was left a buzz.
The countdown is on till the company returns to the Metropolitan area, up next for Top Rank is a fight in Sydney, Australia. That is going to be a great night as Andrei Mikhailovich takes on Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly for his IBF world title.
