Red Bulls fall in Tough Test to Philly

In what was a physical and emotional night for the New York Red Bulls it was ultimately a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union in MLS Action at Red Bull Arena.

There were so many chances for both sides, especially one opportunity for the Red Bulls that came so close to going in but rebounded from out of the cage.

With many MLS balls entering into the stands due to the scoring opportunities it was the defensive play of the Philadelphia Union that won the night.

Leading the way in scoring for Philadelphia was Mikael Uhre and Tai Baribo.

There were a ton of positives coming from the Red Bulls as they saw a total of 21 shots, 4 on goal and a 60.3 possession %.

As the team celebrated Hip Hop night, there were a ton of legendary DJ’s in attendance as well as an incredible Hip Hop Violin performance by Mapy during Halftime.

The memorable moment of the night was seeing the debut of Felipe Carballo around the 60:59 mark as he made a positive impact during the night. In the milestone moment for the franchise was the fact that John Tolkin made his 100th start with the squad.

Also reaching an impressive milestone is Kyle Duncan made his 127th appearance. The interesting fact with this appearance thanks to the folks at the Red Bulls PR Department is the fact that he surpasses Connor Lade for sixth place in franchise history for most MLS appearances made by a defender.

It was a memorable night as a crowd of 19,951 filled with both Red Bulls and Union fans to see the action in person.

With the MLS season back in action the Red Bulls got the scheduled packed full of great matches incoming, as the guys remain home in Harrison on September 7 to take on Sporting Kanas City in a match that is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
