Tong Leads the way in Cyclones Victory against Renegades

There were a ton of storylines in the Brooklyn Cyclones (21-19) in the team’s 7-1 victory against the Hudson Valley (19-18) in the start of a six-game homestand at Maimonides Park in Coney Island.

Getting the start on the mound in the opener is Pitcher Jonah Tong and he went 6.2 innings of one run ball as he was able to record his first victory with the Cyclones. Showing a tremendous mix of pitches, many in the park were impressed with the style that Jonah brought to the hill.

In what was an epic moment in Coney Island making his first appearance in front of his hometown crowd is catcher Chris Suero.

Suero is a feel-good story as the Bronx-native played in front of his friends and family in Coney Island and came through with two hits, a walk and having a .200 average in the game. Along with a great day at the dish, Suero did a great job behind the plate framing the pitches and setting up the
guys on the mound for success.

There is a ton of excitement surrounding both squads especially for the Cyclones as fans are getting closer to seeing a bit of history in the making as he is four hits away (160) from matching Alex Ramirez (164) franchise record for hits.

Brooklyn sends Pitcher Kade Morris to the mound (NR, 0.00 ERA) with his debut with the squad. Morris got drafted by the Mets in the 3rd Round of the 2023 MLB Draft with the 101 Overall Pick.

During his time with Nevada, Morris posted a 5.42 ERA in 81.1 innings with a 22.5% strikeout rate and a 7.1% walk rate. According to the scouting reports Kade features a four-seam and two-seam fastball to go along with averaging a 93 mph and 97mph pitching.
