Four in a Row for the Cyclones as Morris Makes an Impression in Debut

Nick Morabito joining the Cyclones in the Second Half of the Season contributed in the team’s 3-1 victory against Hudson Valley with an RBI single in the Bottom of the third.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (22-19) are starting to regain momentum and the keys to winning baseball games as the guys have won four in a row. Starting the streak on the road in Bowie the team continues to look impressive and in large part to the team’s pitching staff.

In Game Two it was the New York Mets 2023 3rd Rounder Kade Morris gaining the victory, as he fanned seven batters in six innings of work. Overall, the starter threw 85 pitches with 56 of them being strikes.

Even though Hudson Valley got on the scoreboard early as Jace Avina singled and drive in the first run of the game, from there it was Morris looking sharp keeping the Renegades bats at bay.

The Cyclones came through for Kade in the clutch with some key hits and starting things is Nick Morabito, as he tied up the game with a single to center field. Later in the frame William Lugo showed a great eye in drawing a walk and driving in the second run of the game.

Morabito is going to be fun to watch in Coney Island, as the OF is currently ranked #26 in the Mets Prospect Rankings for 2024. Thus far in the games played Nick has a .363 average, an .947 OPS, 11 RBI, 45 hits along with a homer.

In addition, Nick ranks second in all of MiLB in Batting Average to go along with being ranked first in OBP and it is going to be fascinating to see how he develops under Manager Gilbert Gomez.

Then in the Bottom of the Seventh Jefrey De Los Santos laced a double to left field to get the game 3-1.
From there it was nail biting time as Hudson Valley made things close and gave the Cyclones bullpen a bit of a workout as it was in the Eighth Inning the game got interesting.

The Renegades bats showed some great patience at the plate with Cyclones reliever Jimmy Loper on the mound as Nelson Medina and Jared Sera both worked walks. It was in this moment that the Gomez made the call to the pen to try to preserve his lead.

It was Josh Hejka coming to the rescue as the righty got the team out of trouble by getting Jesus Rodriguez to ground out and Tyler Hardman to hit a fly ball to the outfield.

From there the pitching performances continued to come through especially that of Hejka as he was able to get the three outs for the team’s second consecutive victory against the Renegades.

The third game between the Cyclones and Renegades is going to be played on Thursday Night as RHP Jordany Ventura (2-0, 2.42 ERA) takes on a Hudson Valley Pitcher to be named.

Ventura was last in action for the Cyclones on May 16 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Thus far in the month of May Jordanny has a 2.16 ERA and striking out seven batters.

Fans are not only encouraged to attend the game in person scheduled for 7:05 p.m. but also catch all the action on the SNY Network.
