In a battle of the Champions the NWSL Champs Gotham FC and the WSL Champs Chelsea FC are going square off on Monday, August 19 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.
Chelsea FC are the seven-time Women’s Super League Champions, and the match is going to feature some of the greatest players in women’s soccer.
This is going to be a great match for both squads as the team’s return from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In addition, it is going to allow Gotham FC a wonderful chance to get back into NWSL play, while allowing Chelsea FC a chance to square off against a quality opponent prior to the start of the WSL Season.
Fans that are going to attend that match are going to have an opportunity to see the stars of both squads as Gotham FC boasts stars such as Lynn Williams, Esther, Jenna Nighswonger and more.
The intriguing storyline that is going to happen during the course of the night is the fact that goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger has herself a chance to go up against her former team, as Berger made 65 appearances with The Blues.
Since her time with Gotham FC Ann-Katrin is making an immediate positive impression in leading the franchise to a five-game unbeaten streak in her time as the netminder.
US based women’s soccer fans are going to be in for a treat as Chelsea features USWNT forward Cat Macário along with star defender Millie Bright. Bright is a huge part of the England’s Lioness heading to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals.
Starting on Monday, May 20 those that are season ticket members and supporters for both Gotham FC and Chelsea have a chance to purchase tickets prior to a three-day priortiy presale. Then the general public are going to have a chance at purchasing tickets on Thursday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m.
