Cyclones looking Strong heading into Series against Aberdeen

The Brooklyn Cyclones (11-10) had themselves a stellar homestand against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (13-8) in MiLB action in Coney Island.

All that got to attend the series were treated to several winning performances as the team is continuing to make progress on a daily basis.

Overall, the guys were able to pick up victories in Game Two (13-3), Game Four (3-0), and Game Five (4-3).
Some of the impressive performances in Game Two came from Wilfredo Lara and Drake Osborn as they tallied two hits each. Also having an impressive eye is Nick Lorusso as he hit a double and Mateo Gil with a triple.

On the mound the Cyclones starter Noah Hall struck out six batters in 2.2 Innings Pitched, while reliever Douglas Orellana fanned six batters in 5.0 Innings of work.

In Game Four the team shutout the Blue Rocks for the second time as starter Jordan Gerber impressed with his four strikeouts in 5.0 IP.

Fans in Coney Island were able to get a special treat in Game Five as Mets Pitcher Tylor Megill made a Rehab Start and looking tremendous striking out six batters in 2.0 IP. Getting his first career victory on the day is reliever Brandon Sproat.

Sproat fanned five batters in five IP and impressed many with his variety of pitches thrown to a tough Wilmington lineup.

Then the team’s resident Unicorn in Nolan McLean was able to have 3.0 shutout frames in the Sunday’s Finale.

McLean is looking particularly impressive as he was able to finish the week with 8.0 IP, 3H, 0 R, 2 BB and 8K over the two starts he has on the mound. In addition, Nolan is continuing to impress with his bat as he drove in two RBIs and the go-ahead double in the game on Sunday.

As the Cyclones are currently getting ready for a six-game series against the Aberdeen IronBirds, the franchise got some great news as Pitcher Jonah Tong is getting a promotion from the Mets Single-A affiliate Single-A St. Lucie and is slated to hopefully make his debut in the series against the IronBirds.

Tong is opening up many eyes with his performances as through four appearances he did not allow an earned run through 18.2 innings of work. Overall, in his time with St. Lucie Jonah only gave up seven hits, while walking five and striking out 37.

It is going to be a special occasion whenever Jonah does make his debut as he is only 19 and is going to be youngest on the team’s roster.

The first of the six-game series against the IronBirds starts on Tuesday, April 30 with the start time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

On the mound for the series Opener on Tuesday for the Cyclones is going to be Orellana, as he continues to build on the momentum that he built in Game Two.

As for Aberdeen they are going to send RHP Levi Wells to the mound. Wells drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2023 MLB Draft in the Fourth Round with the 118 Overall Pick,s brings the following stats to the mound a 9.58 ERA, 10.1 IP, 14 strikeouts and a 2.03 WHIP.
