With some real-life Superhero’s on the field the Washington Spirit are also going to be celebrating Marvel Superhero night at Audi Field on Friday, April 26 with the start time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The winners of four in a row including an impressive victory over the current reigning NWSL Champs Gotham FC the ladies of Washington D.C. are looking to keep the positive momentum on a roll as they host Orlando.
Thus far the move for the Spirit to Audi Field is more and more of a success as the Spirit are drawing larger and larger crowds playing on a more consistent basis in the Washington D.C. area. In the match against Gotham FC the ladies were able to draw 15,000 people and that is the fourth-largest crowd in Spirit history.
In other positive trends for the team the victory is the franchises longest streak since going five straight from October 2021 to May 2022.
Impressing thus far for the Spirit is the team’s Rookie class as thus far as one of the young guns in Croix Bethune, is the third player in the team’s history to score three goals in the first five appearances with the team as she joins Mallory Swanson and Diana Matheson to achieve this feat.
Orlando is going to be a tough team to play against though as they are winners of two in a row. In the most recent match, the Pride were able to gain a victory against the San Diego Wave by a final of 1-0.
Scoring the goal in that match is Summer Yates and that is the second of the season and the first game-winner.
There are going to be a ton of cool activities and promotions happening on Friday as the Spirit are going to treat fans to a Spirit and Marvel-themed poster for all in attendance, along with Marvel themed photo stations, face painting and caricature artists along with a Costume contest.
Audi Field and Soccer fans in Washington D.C. were able to get some great news as it was announced recently that the United States Women’s National Team is going to play its 2024 Olympic Send-Off Match at Audi Field on Tuesday, July 16.
This is going to be a tremendous opportunity for soccer fans to see the National team in person and is going to be the second all-time match for the USWNT at Audi Field.
