Even though the Boys in Blue showcased a style that was exciting to the fans at Citi Field, at the end of the night on Saturday it was a 1-1 draw between New York City FC and Atlanta United.
In a match that was physical as well it was a memorable night and one that hopefully the team can build upon as the chances that the franchise had showed not only Head Coach Nick Cushing but those that like positive energy that the team is in fact heading in the right direction.
There were moments according to Coach Cushing and scoring opportunities that were bigger in nature and it is in those moments that with time and continued playing together that is going to make hopefully the 2024 version of New York City FC a success.
The signs for the Boys in Blue were good early on as a penalty by Santiago Rodriguez in the 42′ got the squad to an early lead.

For Santi the goal in the match is his second penalty in his NYCFC career, thus far Rodriguez is the leading scorer on the team as he has three goals thus far.

It was a tale of Two Halves though as Atlanta United found confidence and a goal in the 65′ by Jamal Thiaré.
Though there was a ton of action throughout the night, at the end of it all it was the teams ending with a draw and sitting in 13th place in the MLS Standings.
The good news for the team is that with all the positive signs and with the way the team played there is going to be a ton of momentum for the squad as they head into the week of training and for the upcoming match against the New England Revolution.
