NYCFC falls in last minute heartbreak to Portland

On a day in New York City that featured pouring rain and tons of enthusiastic and energetic fans, the match between the Boys and Blue and Portland got to a strong start, but ended in heartbreak, as Portland wounded up with the victory.

Starting up the scoring for NYCFC is Santiago Rodríguez, and in the Second Half it was all Portland as Anthony Alves Santos and Evander Da Silva Ferreira were able to gain the three points for the visiting side.

Overall NYCFC had themselves a ton of positive stats including an 11-9 shots ratio, 6-3 shots on goal, a 360-533 total passes and edged Portland by a total of 7-6.

There were a couple of milestone moments in the Match as Thiago Martins had the team’s first assist of the year along with the debuts of Midfielders Hannes Wolf and Attacker Jovan Mijatovic.

New York City FC is going to next be in action against Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bronx.
