In a clash between the Metropolitan Area BIG EAST Conference teams Seton Hall thrilled in the 74-66 Overtime victory against St. John’s University.
With a crowd of 1029 in attendance including some of the Youth New Jersey Area Girls Basketball teams in attendance both squads showed what BIG EAST Basketball is all about.
From the last time fans of the site read about the Pirates they were just getting into BIG EAST Play, since then the ladies are in the middle of Conference play and picking up some impressive victories including in December as the team defeated Georgetown 57-49.
Then starting the New Year Seton Hall went to Indianapolis and defeated Bulter by the score fo 64-50.
As for the most recent game against the Red Storm the Pirates saw four players finish in double figure scoring.
Leading the way for the Pirates is Azana Baines with 17 points and 13 rebounds, following is Micah Gray and Kae Satterfield as they both scored 16 points each. Rounding the scoring is Sha’Lynn Hagans as she scored 10 points.
Baines is impressing with her play as she is picking up awards in the BIG EAST Conference. Thus far Azana won the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Award Five times.

As for St. John’s the Joe Tartamella led club is once again showing why they are one of the top teams in the BIG EAST Conference.
Thus far the Red Storm impressed in the team’s victory in December against Villanova by the score of 51-46. Then the ladies were able to defeat Ivy League Conference Yale later that month by the score of 75-56.
In the New Year the ladies started the New Year on a strong showing as they defeated Nationally Ranked Marquette (19/20) by the score of 57-56.
The Red Storm saw three players finish the game in double figure scoring as Ber’Nyah Mayo impressed with her 23 points. Tara Daye followed with 12 points and Jillian Archer rounded the scoring with 10 points.
Seton Hall continues BIG EAST Conference play as they head to Omaha to take on Creighton on January 28 then are going to next be back at Walsh Gym on January 31 as they host Georgetown with the start of that game scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
As for the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team the ladies continue their road trip by heading to Chicago to take on DePaul on January 25 and are going to be next in Queens and Carnesecca Arena on January 28 to take on Georgetown with the start time for that game scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
