After Gotham FC hoisted the first ever championship in team’s history on November 11, 2023, there were plenty of questions abound for Head Coach Juan Carlos Amoros and General Manager Yael Averbuch West.
Questions such as how much of the 2023 squad would and could possibly return, how could the team top the success of that magical run, and continue to empower themselves, women’s soccer and women’s sports in general.
One of the first steps Gotham FC took was signing some of the most iconic names in the sport to the 2024 roster as Crystal Dunn, Tierna Davidson, Rose Lavelle and Emily Sonnett to the Class of 2024.

The announcement of the quartet made official on a snowy day in New York City in the Historic Rainbow Room at Rockerfeller Center, as family friends executives and fans all got to get introduced to the newest member of the team.

Starting with the introduction by Averbuch West and Coach Amoros, Gotham FC along with the NWSL broke some huge news as the team is going to host the 2024 Challenge Cup as they take on the San Diego Wave at Red Bull Arena on March 15, 2024.
Then the press conference moved to the part that got everyone excited the introduction of Dunn, Davidson, Lavelle and Sonnett to those in the audience.
One of the amazing things about Gotham FC is that they during the magical 2023 run, gained support and captured the attention of the teams in the New York area including the New York Liberty.
In what is almost a mirror moment with the addition of Dunn, Davidson, Lavelle and Sonnett New York has themselves a second Super Team to cheer for as expectations are high for the 2024 season.
Not only did Gotham FC add these four iconic players but they also added during the 2024 NWSL Draft Defender Maycee Bell along with bringing some exciting news to the fans in that they are going to be competing in Colombia.
There is going to be plenty of excitement and buzz surrounding Gotham FC as the countdown is on till the team’s Regular Season Opener, with the schedule for the team to be announced shortly.
