There is a great buzz whenever Seton Hall and St. John’s step on the floor to clash in BIG EAST Conference play.
Whether is it at the Prudential Center, Madison Square Garden or any of the Iconic locations and gyms in the New York Area, these two iconic College Teams always provided a thrill to fans.
With some of the most epic moments happening in the 80’s and 90’s, including the 1985 game wen St. John’s defeated Seton Hall 71-62 to win the BIG EAST Championship and the most recent two games in the 2000’s including the game in 2016 as Seton Hall defeated St. John’s 79-60 in the BIG EAST
Tournament quarterfinals and the 2020 victory as St. John’s Defeated Seton Hall 78-70.
Both Seton Hall and St. John’s have a ton of buzz surrounding them as the Pirates are led by Head Coach Shaheen Holloway.
Thus far the Pirates have a 7-1 record at the Prudential Center and is one of 10 teams in Division 1 to have at least four Q1 victories.
As for those that are fans of St. John’s thus far the Rick Pitino led team have won four of the last five games.
In the 2024 edition of the classic rivalry the two teams did not disappoint as the Prudential Center rocked with a crowd of 9204.
It was the Hall coming through with an impressive victory as five players scored in double figures, as the team has their fifth consecutive victory and eighth wins in the last nine contest.

With a game-high 21 points Al-Amir Dawes showed an impressive all-around game, up next former St. John’s student Dylan Addae-Wusu tallied his fifth career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Hutchins-Everett contributed with 14 points and seven rebounds.

One of the impressive things about the Pirates is the fact that they were able to both outshoot and out rebound the Red Storm.
The stats from the game included the Pirates shooting 40 percent from the field, along with 42 percent from three-point range (8-19) and 81 percent from the free throw line (26-of-32).
There is a ton of great news for the fans of the Pirates as they have a 6-1 start to BIG EAST Play, and they are tied for the second-best start and Coach Holloway has the second-most BIG EAST wins (16) by a Seton Hall Head Coach in program history.
As for St. John’s they are impressing fans of the team but hope to get back to the team style of play.
Leading the way for the Red Storm is Daniss Jenkins with his 17 points and five assists and Zuby Ejofor had a career-high 13 points.

Seton Hall is back in action at the Prudential Center on January 20 as they take on tough BIG EAST foe Creighton with the tip being scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
As for the Red Storm they are going to be next in action as they take on No. 17/18 Marquette at MSG on the 20th. Tip for that game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
