The New York Jets (4-7) after giving the Miami Dolphins (8-3) there best shot in the team’s 34-13 Week 12 loss at MetLife Stadium, have got to show their fighting spirit in the next six games and show fans the type of heart and team they are going to be.
There were a ton of bright spots for Gang Green as there was a huge interception by CB Brandin Echols with 1:05 remaining in the first half. Echols recorded his second interception returned for a score.
Then with :02 remaining in the first half CB D.J. Reed Intercepted the ball, which was the fifth interception by the Jets against Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa in his career.
Fans of the New York Jets are encouraged to check out the following video as Head Coach Robert Saleh and QB Tim Boyle share these thoughts after the game against Miami…video is compliments of the New York Jets:
New York saw a fumble recovery by Ashtyn Davis when he jumped on the loose ball with 6:29 left in the game. Davis is putting up some great numbers so far for the Jets, as he has registered four takeaways, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
One of the other bright spots for the team’s defense is the fact that LB Bryce Huff recorded a sack in the third quarter, as he now leads the team with 6.0 sacks this season.
After his media interaction earlier in the week WR Garrett Wilson stepped up in the game against Miami, as he recorded his 147th career reception in the fourth quarter. Thus far Wilson has the second most receptions by a player through two seasons.
Up next for the Jets is going to be a Week 13 meeting against the Atlanta Falcons at MetLife Stadium, as the team gets to look at what to do with the offense and how to get the offense and defensive units to start clicking again.
There were questions by the New York media to Coach Saleh as to if he may start Trevor Siemian at quarterback against the Falcons, but Coach mentioned that he wasn’t there yet.
In the team’s most recent media session on Saturday Coach had this to say on starting Tim Boyle at QB:
“Yes, we’re giving Timmy (Tim Boyle) another shot to roll next week. Obviously, there’s things that he could have done better, there’s things that he had no control over, and I know he battled out there. We were able to get to certain calls that we were hoping to do. We were able to execute a lot of the different things that we wanted to execute; it just didn’t come to full fruition.”
He also had this to say on keeping the guys up for the rest of the season:
“It’s not difficult because the message is the truth. The truth that is spoken in the team meeting room and the truth that they’ve got these two days off and you want them to enjoy this time with their families and take a deep breath, but on Monday, there’s a tell the truth moment that needs to happen and happens every week whether you win or lose and being able to look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself whether or not you’re putting your best foot forward and like I said, I challenge the coaches too. Challenge the player, challenge everyone in organization, are you putting your best foot forward or are you looking over the fence at someone else’s grass? That sometimes can happen when you think you have answers for everybody, you start looking over the lawn, but the main thing is just make sure you’re keeping tabs on yourself and finding ways to get better and telling the truth on where you can be better to help this team win football games.”
All the roads and preparation are going to lead up to the team’s Week 13 meeting against the Falcons on December 3 with the action set to start at 1:00 p.m.
