Thriller at Rose Hill Gym as Fordham Edges Wagner in Overtime

In one of the more thrilling Home Opener to date the Fordham University Men’s Basketball team defeated Wagner 68=64 in Overtime in Rose Hill Gym.

Leading the way in the win is Japhet Medor with his 17 points as he went 3-for-6 from behind the arc while also having 6 assists. Elijah Gray impressed with his low post moves as he went 5-for-6 from the field and scoring a career-high 16 points.

As for Wagner they showed that they are going to be a team that is going to be tough to beat with Melvin Council Jr leading the way with his 21 points and Tyje Kelton with his 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Some of the interesting stats from the game (compliments of the Fordham Athletics Department) is the fact that the Rams are 79-36 (.684) in season openers since 1908. In addition, Fordham won five of the past six season openers.

One of the trends in the night is the fact that both teams played a stellar defensive game, with the Rams recording seven blocks with Abdou Tsimbila and Medor having three each.

Up next for the Fordham University Rams is a home game against Cornell on Saturday, November 11 with the start of the day scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
