As the New York Jets got back to work and practicing after a restful Bye Week, the guys are heading into Week 8 with a positive mindset and a motivation to want to improve and win football games.
Gang Green heading into what is going to be a Week 8 Clash against the New York Giants, are hoping to do so with high energy and hungry to show why they are going to be the team to watch in the New York City area.
One of the biggest keys for the Jets is the fact that the team’s defense steps up and make the big plays as the games progress. Thus far the defense is doing a great job of being able to do the right things, not letting the game get out of hand and getting the ball back to the offensive unit.
Thus far the formula of big defensive plays leading to the offensive side also stepping up and scoring afterward is something that sees the team with a 3-3 overall record and sitting in Third Place in the AFC East.
As the team concluded practice and held the press conference afterwards, one of the stories from that session is the team’s defense and the journey from last year to this year.
Linebacker C.J. Mosley talked in depth with how this being the third year that most of the defensive unit is together is playing a big part of the team’s playing well. The defense is learning more and more of the lingo and how to communicate between themselves and the team’s Coaching Staff.
Some of the leaders for the team thus far on defense is Quincy Williams as he has 47 tackles thus far, Quinton Jefferson with his Three Sacks and Jordan Whitehead with his three interceptions.
Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams also stepped to the podium and chatted about his thoughts on the team’s mindset thus far and how the team is doing the necessary things to win football games.
There is also a great story coming from the question-and-answer session with Williams, as he reflected on some of the things that he learned from Leonard Williams during his time with the Jets.
Jets fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Robert Saleh along with C.J. Mosley and Quinnen Williams from 10/23/23. Video is compliments of the New York Jets
Williams is now a big part of a Big Blue defense that goes into the Week 8 matchup against the Jets with a 14-7 victory against the Washington Commanders, and a defense that plays a brand of hard-nosed football.
There is going to be a ton of excitement and nerves leading into the Week 8 matchup against the Giants, up first for the Jets though is continued practices to be held for the rest of this week so that the team can continue to see the areas in where they can improve and win football games.
