New Look NYCFC gest first MLS Test Against Minnesota

With a ton of positive buzz and a ton of new players on their roster, it is going to be a new look New York City FC Club that is going to enter the pitch at Citi Field in their first taste of MLS action against Minnesota United on Sunday, August 20.

It has been a month and five days since the squad’s last MLS fixture at Citi Field, as the last time the Boys in Blue were seen in Queens they were going up against the Philadelphia Union.

There have been a ton of changes since then as the roster features some new and exciting players that are going to be fascinating to watch as the 2023 MLS Season progresses.

Such names as Monsef Bakrar, Alonso MartinezBirk Risa, and Julian Fernandez are going to be just some of the exciting new names to watch for as the newer additions have been hard at work blending their talent with the guys that have been on the team since Day One.

There is going to be also an exciting return of a Soccer great as NYCFC fans are going to see the return of Maxi Moralez to the field.

It is projected for Moralez to make his second debut with the club against Minnesota United and where Moralez is going to fit in with the rest of Head Coach Nick Cushing’s plans of success for the squad.

When it comes time to playing at Citi Field, in the 12 matches that they have played the team has a 5W-3L-4D record. During that span the team recorded 20 goals, as Gabriel Pereira lead the way with the most goals.

There have been a ton of other highlights from the Boys in Blue in their time in Queens as Santiago Rodriguez, Keaton Parks, Talles Magno, Maxi Moralez, Maxime Chanot and Brian Cufre all have provided memorable moments.

This is going to be an intriguing matchup with Minnesota United, as these two franchises have played four games against each other all-time.

One of the things for those who enjoy soccer strategy and formation are how the two sides are going to fare tactically. Minnesota usually operates under a 4-2-3-1 system, as they have a new addition in Teemu Pukki leading the way.

All of this makes for what is going to be for a great night of soccer as New York City FC takes on Minnesota United in MLS action on Sunday, August 20 with the kick-off time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
