It has been a whirlwind few series for the New York Yankees (55-49), as they swept the Kansas City Royals; split the Subway Series with the New York Mets and then went down to Baltimore for a three-game road trip.
In the second game on Saturday the Yankees defeat the Baltimore Orioles (63-41) 8-3 on Saturday MLB action at Oriole Park at Camden Yard. With just one game left of the set the teams are 1-1.
The first game between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees is a thriller, with Baltimore coming on top by a score of 1-0. New York looked a lot more like the Bronx Bombers in Game Two and starting to gain confidence thanks to the return of Aaron Judge.
Judge the New York Yankees captain is finally back on the field, after being out for 42 weeks due to torn ligament in his right big toe. Judge is the heart and soul of the Yankees; the team looks to him for leadership and whenever there are big moments, he is one of the players to bring that big bat. In addition Aaron also plays a great outfield position, as it seems as if when he is on the field the momentum is at an all-time high.
Aaron is one of the players leading the way with the offense, as in the third inning Judge blasted a two-run home run to center field. With the blast Judge sits at 20th home run of the season.
Anthony Volpe swiped a career high 19 bases, which is the most bases stolen by a Yankees rookie. This hasn’t happened since 2011 by Eduardo Nunez when he stole 22 bases. Catcher Kyle Higashioka also recorded a career high tying with three hits (last: 5/28/23 vs. San Diego). This is his eight multi-hit game of the season with it also being his seventh career home run against the Orioles.
One of the more impressive moments for the Yankees came in the first inning, as Giancarlo Stanton scortched a 115mph ball over the right field wall, for the early 1-0 lead. The homer for Stanton, was the second hardest hit homer at Oriole Park at Camden Yard.
As for the pitching stars in Game Two it was Clarke Schmidt going up against Tyler Wells. Schmidt went Five Innings and striking out two batters. As for Wells he went 2.2 innings and striking out one batter.
The Yankees and the Orioles wrap up the three-game series on Sunday, as Luis Severino is on the mound for the Yankees and takes on Dean Kremer.
One of the biggest predicaments is how to play Judge, as the upcoming weeks progress, thus far manager Aaron Boone is unsure if he will let judge play in Sunday’s game. Yankees have thirteen consecutive games and won’t get to rest until August 10th. Boone wants to save Judge for further down the road.
“As much as I want him in there, we’ve got to be smart,” said Aaron Boone of what the Yankees are going to do with their Captain going forward.
All the excitement leads to this as the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles wrap up a three-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yard with a 7:10 p.m. game on Sunday, July 30. with all of the action is going to air on the ESPN Network.
