Road Woes for Mystics in 97-92 loss to Lynx

As the Washington Mystics are currently on the road the first tough test that they faced on Wednesday July 26 at the Target Center it was the Minneapolis Lynx coming out on top by a final of 97 -92. There wasn’t a big lead during the game which made for a very interesting matchup for the night.

Natasha Cloud had a season high of 24 points, her performance helped to landing her on the mystics All-Time scoring list 1,799 career points. With the milestone Cloud has now passed Murriel Page on the Mystics franchise list. Page was the number one Draft Pick in 1998 the second year the league started for the Washington Mystics.

For her third straight game Brittney Sykes continues to put in some impressive work with the squad in scoring, as she put in another 15 plus points per game performance. Thus far ‘Slim’ leads the WNBA when it comes to steals per game. Within the first half of the game Sykes had 13 points while wrapping up the game with 17 points, four assists, two rebounds and four steals.

Lynx Guard Napheesa Collier scored 24 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, this was Collier sixth double- double of the season. The bad news for the Lynx fans is that after such a great game played Collier will be out for Fridays game against the New York Liberty due to an injury.  The good news is that Collier is the fourth leading scorer in the WNBA.

The Mystics have won 12 games while losing 11 games thus far and hold the number 6 spot in the league. Up next the ladies take on the Dallas Wings on Friday night 8PM On ION.

With four players out due to injury the Mystics will have to work overtime when it comes to defense and offense as the Dallas Wings have some of the best defensive players in the league, while sitting in the second spot in the Western Conference with a 13-10 record.
